On July 19, 2015, a memorial soccer fundraiser was held in Jersey City by a large group of dedicated law enforcement professionals from New York and New Jersey to benefit the family of fallen Deputy U.S. Marshal Zacarias M. Toro, Jr. who died of a 9/11 related illness on June 14, 2015. He was just 51 years old. Deputy Toro leaves behind a wife and two children.
It was his courageous son, Jeremy, a young college student studying law, who asked event organizers to make a donation in his father’s name to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The U.S. Soccer Heroes is pleased to announce that the proceeds of the event – $2061.00 – was donated to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Deputy Toro, Jr’s name.
We were honored to be a part of this memorial event and help facilitate this donation to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
